After going unbeaten throughout the whole tournament, Geelong's Under 12 boys took out the Future Stars Championships from 27th-29th March in Bendigo.

Despite missing head coach Kat Clancy, away getting married, the young stars responded well to coaches Brenton O'Brien and Cathy Gillespie as they opened day one with three wins over Wangaratta, Sale and Kyneton.

Three more games on Sunday resulted in three more wins over Portland 40-20, Terang 56-28 and Traralgon 51-28.

After six wins over the first two days of competition, the boys set-up an elimination final showdown with Bendigo who were always going to be hard to beat on their home court.

The boys brushed them aside, winning 40-23 and ensuring they would meet Colac in the semi-final and move one step closer to glory.

Another 17-point win over Colac in the semi meant they booked a spot in the Grand Final with Moe.

The Grand Final saw a tight tussle and a tremendous display of junior country basketball.

The Cats held on in a fantastic finish, 52-46 the final score.

After taking out the Future Stars Championship, the boys have secured a spot in the prestigious National Classic over the Queen's Birthday Long Weekend, 14-16th June.

The Under 12 girls side are still hoping to claim a spot after they finished fourth in the same tournament as Geelong and Moe were the only two association's with both team inside the top four.
