competition, YMCA Cougars caused a minor upset with a nail biting 57-55 victory
over Rovers.
Cougars made the
most of the absence of Rovers’ stars Kylie Morrissy and Bree Cail, coming from
behind at the final break.
Jana Van
Parreren was the key for Cougars, scoring 22 points, while Jen Cleary (11
points) and Kim Martin (10) provided the support.
Tania Du Plessis
paced Rovers with 12.
Try Boys had the
better of Sharks 69-48, with four players scoring in double figures, led by
Anisa Sijersic’s 17.
Mel Schwarz,
Kara Shuttleworth and Kelly Snell each scored 10 for Sharks.
Vicki King’s 35
points wasn’t enough to carry an undermanned YMCA to victory, as they slumped
to a third loss for the season against Rovers Hawks.
The Hawks
getting home 53-50, with star big Jess Watson leading the way with 15.
