Christian College overcame injuries to big man Seb Loader and guard Nick Owusu to hand Rovers a 90-62 hiding in Basketball Geelong Championship action on Tuesday night.

The Eagles set up the win with a 35-13 first quarter, with Owusu scoring all of his 13 points by the opening break.

Fellow Supercat Keith Harrison picked up the slack, finishing with 23 points, while youngster Marcus Larcombe had 16.

Andrew Olechnowicz paced Rovers with 26 points, while veteran Lucas Kenny had 18.

A 33-13 third quarter proved the difference between Vytis and Tigers.

The Knights led 28-25 at the main break, before extending their three point margin to a 23 point buffer at three quarter time.

Supercats’ rookie Michael Rebula continued his fine form with 25, while Lachie Headlam had 15.

Simon Evans was Tigers’ best with 27.

Big V Cats’ back-up centre Pete Van Der Burg dominated with 23 points, as YMCA hammered Sharks 89-53.

He was one of five players in double figures for the Y, who outscored Sharks 52-23 in the second and third quarters.

Craig Jarvis led the Sharks with 14.

Former competition MVP Christian Keepen starred with 23 points in Pivot City’s 81-37 demolition job on Dolphins.

He was well supported by James Walker (18 points) and Jason Reardon (17).

Mikey Lesic was the Dolphins’ shining light with 12 points.

In the women’s competition, YMCA Cougars caused a minor upset with a nail biting 57-55 victory over Rovers.

Cougars made the most of the absence of Rovers’ stars Kylie Morrissy and Bree Cail, coming from behind at the final break.

Jana Van Parreren was the key for Cougars, scoring 22 points, while Jen Cleary (11 points) and Kim Martin (10) provided the support.

Tania Du Plessis paced Rovers with 12.

Try Boys had the better of Sharks 69-48, with four players scoring in double figures, led by Anisa Sijersic’s 17.

Mel Schwarz, Kara Shuttleworth and Kelly Snell each scored 10 for Sharks.

Vicki King’s 35 points wasn’t enough to carry an undermanned YMCA to victory, as they slumped to a third loss for the season against Rovers Hawks.

The Hawks getting home 53-50, with star big Jess Watson leading the way with 15.
