Vytis extended its
winning start to the Basketball Geelong Winter Championship season to seven
with a 97-83 win over
The Knights made the
most of the absence of Seb Loader and Nick Owusu to hand the Eagles their
second loss of the season.
Vytis went into the
match with just five players, with all scoring in double figures.
Romas Liebich starred
with 25 points, while Supercats’ rookie Lachie Headlam had 24.
Veteran Christian
Keepen turned back the clock with a devastating 39 point performance, while
Adam Clapinski finished with 19.
Youth League big man
Griffen Errey was Tigers’ best with 13.
Sharks moved back into
the top four with a 110-78 result against Rovers.
Dane Bow proved the
difference between the two sides scoring 38 points, while Daniel Hovey had 20.
Andrew Olechnowicz
continued his solid season with a 29 point haul for Rovers.
Try Boys registered
its second win of the season by beating the winless Dolphins 86-74.
Josh Donaldson (23
points) and Nathan Maxwell (21) were the stars for Try Boys.
22 points from Simon
Laugesen and Jeremy Sands (20) kept Dolphins competitive.
In the women’s
competition Kylie Morrissy’s 38 points carried Rovers over the line against
The Lady Cats’ star
proving the difference as an undermanned Rovers squad had to fight to keep the
youthful Pivotonians at bay.
Ebony Tannouri (13
points) and Sam Croxford (12) both provided headaches for their more
experienced opponents.
Tarryn McPherson top
scored with 26 points in Rovers Hawks 72-57 result against YMCA Cougars.
Jess Watson (22
points) provided McPherson with good support, while Cougars were best served by
Lucia Van Parreren (20 points) and Kim Martin (14).
Vicki King’s
consistent season continued with 33 points in 73-34 thumping of Sharks.
Lady Cats’ teammate
Ash Hatton again complemented King with 27 points of her own.
Mel Schwarz finished
with 19 points for Sharks.
