Rovers vs Dolphins

Pivot City has wrested top spot from Vytis after round nine of the Basketball Geelong Championship season on Tuesday night.

The Pivotonians continued their unbeaten start to the season with a routine 51-31 win over Lara.

Christian Keepen continued his solid form with 17 points, while big man James Walker had 10.

Brenton Walker was the Giants’ best with 13 points.

Vytis surrendered top spot with its first loss, as veteran Try Boys’ guard Paul Hutchison dropped 30 points in an 83-64 result, that kept the Bears inside the top four.

Steve Wiasak led the scoring for Vytis with 11 points.

Dolphins registered their first win of the season with a 71-56 victory of Rovers.

Ben Roberts (20 points) and Mikey Lesic (19) did most of the damage for Dolphins.

Josh Kelly did all he could to keep Rovers in touch with 22 points.

Sharks stellar first half of the season continued with an 84-76 win over Christian College.

Five Sharks finished in double figures, led by Dan Hovey’s 21 points and James Deocampo’s 17.

Nick Owusu again paced the Eagles with 32 points.

Former Supercats Jordan Hill (24 points) and Kris Van Parreren (20) have combined to help YMCA hammer Tigers 88-33.

Andrew Luttrell’s 13 points were Tigers’ best.

In the women’s competition, Lady Cat Jae Conn’s 33 points proved the difference in YMCA’s 76-35 win over clubmates’ Cougars.

Sisters Vicki King (19 points) and Kathy Mallon (12) provided the support for the Y, while Lucy Packham had 10 for Cougars.

Try Boys retained top spot with a comfortable 78-49 victory Pivot City.

Chantelle Brockett starred for the Bears with 38 points in a rare appearance before returning to the U-S college system.

Olivia Cameron was Pivot’s best with 14.

Rovers had the better of Sharks 66-26, thanks to 20 points from Prue Kenny and Bree Cail’s 17.

Mel Schwarz led Sharks with nine points.
