Sharks’
re-emergence as a force in Basketball Geleong Championship has been confirmed
with a
78-73 win over Vytis on Tuesday night.
Former
Supercat Dane Bow was again the catalyst, scoring 26
points,
while Craig Jarvis (20 points) and James Deocampo (19) provided the
support.
The
Knights, who have now dropped two in a row, after winning their first
seven,
were best served by Michael Rebula’s 22 points and Steve Wiasak’s 20.
Christian
Keepen (19 points) again led the Pivotonians scoring, while Nick Kent
finished
with 15.
With Seb
Loader and Nick Owusu missing, veteran guard Keith Harrison again
carried the
load for the Eagles with 21 points.
YMCA proved
too good for an under-manned Rovers’, running out comfortable 69-31
winners.
Mitchell
Herbert led Y with 17 points, while new dad Jordan Hill finished with
16.
Andrew
Tonkin was Rovers’ best with 12.
Captain-coach
Simon Evans (23 points) set the example as Tigers rolled Try Boys 78-63
for
their second win of the season.
Nathan
Maxwell also had 23 for Try Boys.
Lara
registered its second win of the season with a 65-58 result over
Dolphins.
Brenton
Walker (19 points) and Michael Hammond (18) combined to carry the Giants
to
victory.

women’s competition, Rovers Hawks consolidated their spot in the top
four with
a 72-59 win over
The Tarry
McPherson (30 points) and Jess Watson (29) combination proved too much
for
Pivot, who was again led by Ebony Tannouri (18 points).
Try Boys
handed YMCA a 71-30 flogging to maintain top spot.
Four
players scored in double figures for the Bears, with Chantelle Brockett
(22
points) again starring.
Lady Cat
Jae Conn (11 points) tried hard for Y, who sorely missed Candice Rogers
and the
injured Vicki King.
