Round 11 Basketball Geelong Winter Division One Wrap

Pivot City has pulled four points clear on top of the Basketball Championship ladder with a 78-46 belting of Vytis.

The victory not only has the Pivotonians ahead of the chasing pack, it has also sent the Knights tumbling out of the top four after a third straight loss.

Once again Christian Keepen paced Pivot City’s scoring, finishing with 24.

Marty Liebich was best with 15 points for a Vytis roster missing Supercats’ rookies Lachie Headlam and Michael Rebula and Big V Youth League star Steve Wiasak.

Try Boys Bears replaced Sharks in second spot with an 82-70 victory.

Paul Hutchison’s solid run of form continued with 25 points, while the dangerous Steve Hyland had 21.

Big V duo Dane Bow and Steve Thomas both had 15 points for Sharks.

Christian College stayed in touch with the top four with a 107-64 smashing of Dolphins.

Five players scored 20 or more points for the Eagles, with Keith Harrison the best with 23.

Once again Mikey Lesic kept Dolphins competitive, scoring 17 points.

YMCA flexed its muscle with 115-59 smashing of a struggling Lara outfit.

Y had six players in double figures, including Jordan Finch (21 points) and Pete Van Der Burg (20).

Michael Hammond was again the Giants’ leading scorer, finishing with 19.

In the final game Try Boys defeated Rovers 47-44.

In the women’s competition YMCA replaced Rovers Hawks in third spot with a 56-44 victory.

Lady Cats’ teammates Candice Rogers and Ash Hatton did most of the damage for Y, with both scoring 17.

Lauren Bellegante led Rovers Hawks with 14 points.

A 25 point haul from Lana Ryder proved the difference in Rovers 61-45 victory over YMCA Cougars.

Sally Packham and Jana Van Parreren both had 10 points for Cougars.

Try Boys again proved why its championship favourite with a 70-19 smashing of Sharks.

Chantelle Brockett was the leading light for the Bears with 21 points.
