Round 12 Basketball Geelong Winter Division One Wrap

Try Boys Bears have handed Pivot City its first loss of the 2010 Basketball Geelong Championship season with a 64-54 victory in Round 12 action on Tuesday night

Supercats’ role player Matt Hardiman was the star for the Bears with 21 points, while Chris Daniele chimed in with 11.

Jason Reardon led the Pivotonians with 13 points and James Walker finished with 10.

Vytis returned to the winners’ list with a 76-49 result against Dolphins.

Michael Rebula was the Knights’ best with 21 points.

He was well supported by Lachie Headlam (16 points) and Romas Liebich (16).

Mikey Lesic again led the Dolphins charge with 19 points.

Reigning champions Christian College stayed in touch with the top four with an important 69-58 win over fellow finals contender YMCA.

Keith Harrison had a night out for the Eagles with 27 points, while veteran big Seb Loader finished with 19.

Former Supercats’ skipper Jordan Hill was Y’s best with 19 points.

A 24 point haul from Trent Lopuszanski helped Rovers to a thrilling 43-41 victory over Tigers.

Captain-coach Simon Evans and big man Griffen Errey both had 10 for Tigers.

In the women’s competition Sharks kept themselves in striking distance of the playoffs with an upset 66-52 win over Rovers Hawks.

Mel Schwarz (21 points) and Sharon Ford (17) combined to do the damage for Sharks.

Youth League shooter Lauren Bellegante was the Hawks’ best with 21 points.

YMCA climbed back into third with a 62-43 result against Pivot City.

Lady Cat Candice Rogers dominated in the paint with 26 points.

Bridgitte Burns and Jo Fazio were Pivot’s best with 12 apiece.

Try Boys further consolidated top spot with a 77-50 result against second placed Rovers.

Anna Teague and Katherine Brockett both had 23 points for the Bears.

Bree Cail led Rovers with 20 points.
