YMCA stayed
in touch with the Basketball Geelong Championship top four with an 81-72 win
over Sharks on Tuesday night.
Y’s win
leaves it on 35 points with five rounds remaining, two points adrift of playoff
action.
Former
Supercat Jordan Hill returned to form with 21 points, while Big V star Chris
Brown had 14.
James
Deocampo had 20 points for Sharks, who have fallen outside of the top four.
The Eagles
were best served by Mark Dorwood and Seb Loader, who both had 22 points.
Andrew
Olechnowicz was Rovers’ best with 28 points.
Despite
missing Jason Reardon, the Pivotonians had no problems with a Michael
Lesic-less Dolphins roster.
Christian
Keepen top scored with 19 for the winners, while Salabat Khan had 12 for the
losers.
A combined
57 points between Simon Evans (30 points) and Ben Scannell (27) hasn’t been
enough for Tigers to cause an upset against finals hopefuls Vytis.
The Knights
winning 91-75 thanks to 25 points from Supercats’ rookie Michael Rebula and 21
from Steve Wiasak.
Try Boys
Bears had the better of clubmates Try Boys 102-64.
Steve
Hyland’s consistent form continued with 24 points for the Bears.
Jake
Mongelli led Try Boys with 21 points.
In the
women’s competition Rovers opened up a four point gap in second spot with a
46-40 win over YMCA.
Both sides
went into the match at less than full strength, with Lana Ryder’s 19 points
proving the difference between the two sides.
Ash Hatton
was Y’s best with 15
Olivia
Cameron finished with 19 points for the Pivotonians, as did Kim Martin for the
Cougars.
