With Basketball Geelong and the St Laurence Geelong Supercats, basketball in Geelong has undergone unprecedented success in 2010 on a State and National level.

The 2010 season success of The St Laurence Geelong Supercats winning both their Conference and Championship titles along with Basketball Geelong’s State Championship Woman’s success, as well as the exciting new announcement that the Supercats will be entering a women's team into SEABL for the first time in 2011, means that the Alcoa Basketball Academy in 2011 will continue to grow and develop aspiring young basketballers.

The Alcoa Basketball Academy is an outstanding way to have fun in the school holidays whilst improving your basketball skills. The partnership of Basketball Geelong and the St Laurence Geelong Supercats will bring about a significant but ongoing change to the opportunity and experience children will have at these new camps. Including an earlier commencement time each day of 9am running all the way through to 5pm daily at each location and specific coaching directors with set routines that manage the opportunities to engage children of all school ages.

The holiday clinics will incorporate accredited coaches as well as Championship winning Supercats and Lady Cats players.

The camps will return to the Arena in 2011 for a three day session from Monday 31st January til Wednesday 2nd February. Children of all abilities may attend and each day will feature various skills and games to develop fundamental basketball skills.

Star WNBL and Geelong Basketball player Kylie Morrissy said the overall emphasis is on fun and getting kids enjoying playing basketball with a structured approach to the delivery of the camp.

“The Alcoa Basketball Academies are all about kids having fun and learning more about basketball. We aim to get kids excited about playing basketball and they can then go to school and into clubs and continue playing” Morrissy said.

Each day runs from 9:00am – 5pm and while the emphasis is on fun, the academy is building on the expertise of access to qualified coaching staff and commences a commitment on the part of Basketball Geelong working in conjunction with the St Laurence Geelong Supercats to develop local talent.

The Alcoa Basketball Academy has delivered fun and coaching to young basketball players for many years. We provide excellent basketball programs which cater for all ages and abilities. Even complete beginners will have fun and learn the game form the best.

Registration will be available online shortly, in the meantime you can contact the Supercats office for a registration form.  Regional camp dates will be announced shortly.
