Under 16 Boys Round 5

 Geelong Cats 70 def. Melbourne (2) 66

Top Scorers: R. Kennedy 13, G. Blagojevic 10, T. Dow 9

Coach’s Comment: “Our last home game for quite some time was another tight affair with the Tigers coming to play and shooting well to stay in touch with Geelong for most of the game. Geelong pushed to the lead only to see their opponents come back to make a contest. In the end the boys did enough to get over the line, however some tightening up on the defensive side and a higher finishing percentage can improve the team’s performance.”

Under 16 Girls Round 5

Geelong Cats 53 def. Bendigo 26

Top Scorers: Not Supplied

Coach’s Comment:  “The last home game for this part of the season welcomed Bendigo and although we matched them for the first half, our inability to keep the scoreboard turning over cost us dearly in the second half.  Again we were well served by Stacey Geelhoed and Bronte Burke. It’s time to have a break and re-invigorate for the second part of this half of the season.”

Geelong Cats 42 def. McKinnon 17

Top Scorers: Z. McKeegan 15, E. Braslis 8, E. Kramer 5

Coach’s Comment:  “After a tight contested in the first quarter, we slowly crept away with our scoring in the final three terms, coming away with a comfortable win.”

Victorian Junior League One

Under 18 Boys Round 3

Geelong Cats 40 lost to Frankston 50

Top Scorers: M. Pigott 19, A. Ferrante 7, J. Buaya 6

Coach’s Comment: “We were competitive and improved our defence for most of the game but struggled to get the ball through hands in offence. This restricted our ability to score inside and caused many low percentage missed shots from the perimeter. In the end we were able to restrict Frankston to a moderate total but lacked the team scoring power to ultimately win the game.”
