Junior Player Rewards Announced

Announcing Player Rewards

The Geelong Supercats and Basketball Geelong have today announced an innovative program aimed at rewarding junior basketball participants for doing what they love doing – playing basketball!

Aimed at all Basketball Geelong domestic players who participate in the winter championship season, players from Under 14, Under 12 and Under 10 competitions who play games will be rewarded with Supercats game tickets and merchandise opportunities.

The program is incredibly simple, and will be administered by Basketball Geelong, who record every game a child plays in all competitions.

The levels of rewards have been set as follows:

 Level 1

Any player from an eligible competition who plays at least 8 games will receive a Supercats game ticket redeemable with a paying adult ticket

 Level 2

Any player from an eligible competition who plays at least 15 games will receive a Supercats game ticket for them and a friend

 Level 3

Any player who plays at least 25 games will receive a Supercats family pass (2 adults and 2 children)

This means any player could earn up to three Supercats game tickets in 2011.

There is no need to enrol for the program every child who plays in Basketball Geelong competitions will be automatically eligible once they play the minimum number of games.

Supercats General Manager David Hoey said this program had been designed in conjunction with Basketball Geelong and will further build the relationship between the club and the basketball community.

“The Supercats are proud to be helping Basketball Geelong build its brand by encouraging children to play. We already do that through our extensive Superhoops schools program, and now we are rewarding kids who actually turn up every week for their domestic team.”

Basketball Geelong General Manager Amy Hawthorne said she was delighted with this program, commenting on the benefit for domestic clubs.

“These kinds of initiatives provide another benefit to children playing basketball.   This helps our clubs in both recruitment and retention of these young athletes. “
