Basketball Geelong Championship Wrap Round 3

A couple of one-point thrillers highlighted Basketball Geelong Championship round three action on Tuesday night.

Vytis, led by 20 points from Supercats’ rookie Michael Rebula, got past YMCA 65-64.

Chris Brown and veteran shooter Jordan Hill both had 15 for Y.

Try Boys, sparked by a 17 point second-half by Glenn Sharp, came from 10 points down at the main break, to beat Pivot City 62-61.

Sharp, who had 10 points alone in the final quarter, staged a mini-shootout with Jason Reardon, who had 11 of his 21 points in the last period.

Ben Scannell and Simon Evans both had 21 points as Tigers rolled Lara 71-50.

A 22-6 second quarter proved the difference between the two teams.

An even team performance from Sharks helped them to a 76-56 victory over Rovers.

Dane Bow (18 points) was among four in double figures for Sharks.

Brett Goodgame and Simon Robertson both finished with 15 for Rovers.

Jamie Plowman starred for Dolphins with 23 points in their 73-42 romp over CC Eagles Silver.

Jeremy Sands provided the support with 19 points, while Tim King had 14 for Silver.

In the women’s competition, Sharks snuck away with a one-point upset of Rovers.

The fine form at both domestic and Big V level of Sharon Ford continued, with the State Youth Championship captain sparking her team with 25 points.

Ellie Stevens did all she could to get Rovers over the line, scoring 20 points.

Try Boys continued its winning ways with a 47-35 result over YMCA.

Lady Supercat Anna Teague starred with 17 points, while Elise Flynn had 13.

Candice Rogers and Jana Van Parreren both had nine for Y.

Veteran big Ana Marinovic put on a clinic in Pivot City’s 85-11 belting of Lara.

She finished with 31 points, including 17 in the final quarter, while Ebony Tannouri had 20.
