Basketball Geelong Championship Wrap Round 4



A stunning 16-point final quarter from young gun Lewie Varley helped Sharks get over Christian College Silver 68-46 in Basketball Geelong Championship round four action on Tuesday night.

Sharks led by just two points at the final break, but with Varley starring, put the foot down to outscore Silver 28-8 and claim victory.

Tim King was Christian College’s best with 20 points.

Try Boys ended Vytis’ unbeaten start to the season with a 90-73 victory.

Five players scored in double figures for the Bears, with Steve Hyland and Patrick Phillips the best with 16 points apiece.

Steve Wiasak and Michael Rebula both had 25 points for the Knights.

Veteran Jordan Hill starred with 29 points in YMCA’s 79-55 win over Tigers.

Ben Scannell paced Tigers with 15 points.

A 30-11 final quarter proved the difference between Christian College White and Dolphins.

The Eagles’ getting the 64-44 result thanks to 13 points in the final stanza from Marcus Larcombe.

Big man Ben McCawley was Dolphins’ best with 20 points.

Pivot City was too good for Rovers, winning 74-49, with Jason Reardon scoring a game-high 19 points for the victors.

Star Try Boys’ duo Anna Teague (32 points) and Anisa Sijersic (28) combined to hand Rovers an 81-46 hiding in the women’s competition.

The Bears led 14-11 after an even first quarter.

However, Teague and Sijersic combined for 19 points in the second period to make the score 40-22, effectively ending the game as a contest.

Sharks produced a withering 33-8 final quarter burst to defeat Dolphins 78-44.

Sharon Ford’s stunning start to the season continued with a 30 point haul, including 12 in the last term.

Lady Supercat Cortney Williamson kept Dolphins competitive with 27 points.

YMCA made it consecutive wins with a 54-43 result against Lara.

Candice Rogers scored 15 points for Y, while Ang McDonagh led the Giants with 13.
