Basketball Geelong Championship Wrap Round 7

A Jordan Hill-led YMCA moved back into the Basketball Geelong Championship top four with a 72-57 win Try Boys on Tuesday night.

The former Supercats’ great had 28 points, including four three-pointers, to help Y to their fourth win of the season.

Tim Diamond was best for the Bears with 14 points, including 13 in the last quarter.

Supercats’ rookie pair Nathan Freind and Michael Rebula staged their own personal shootout in the clash between Christian College White and Vytis.

Both finished with 31 points.

However, it was Freind who came out on top, as the Eagles held off a fast-finishing Knights’ line-up to win 89-84.

Pivot City retained top spot with a 78-41 hiding of Dolphins.

Five players scored in double-figures for the Pivotonians, with James Walker and Nick Kent both leading the way with 14.

Ben McCawley’s fine form continued, finishing with 19 points.

Tigers moved to within two points of the top four thanks to a 65-60 result against Christian College Silver.

Experienced pair Simon Evans (21 points) and Ben Scannell (17 points) again provided the one-two punch.

Brett Seljak finished with 17 points for Silver.

Despite 35 points from Addison Daly, Lara fell 12 points short of Rovers, 86-74.

Andrew Tonkin had 26 points for Rovers, while Brett Goodgame and Chris Eichler both finished with 25.

A 32 point haul from Lady Supercat Cortney Williamson wasn’t enough for Dolphins to end Pivot City’s unbeaten start to the season in Women’s Championship.

Bianca Cheever’s 22 points proved to be the difference as the Pivotonians claimed a 69-47 win.

Lady Supercats’ youngster Jess Watson dominated with 25 points in Rovers’ 57-35 result against YMCA.

Former Lady Cat Ash Hatton was best for Y with eight points.

Sharks had six players in double-figures in an 80-26 belting of Lara.

Youngster Emma Leeds finished with 16 points for Sharks, while Ang McDonagh was again the only offensive weapon for the Giants, scoring 12.
