Christian College White continues to share top spot with Pivot City in Basketball Geelong men’s championship following Tuesday night’s nail biting 76-74 win over YMCA.

The margin was never greater than three points at any of the breaks, with the Eagles sneaking home thanks to a 17-17 final term.

Nathan Friend’s impressive form continued with 25 points for Christian College, while Keith Harrison had 19.

Big man Pete Van Der Burg was Y’s best with 20 points and teammate Kris Van Parreren chipped in with 18.

Lara fell just short of its first win of the season, going down to Dolphins 53-47.

The Giants held a slender lead at half-time, but were outscored 16-7 in the third quarter, which ultimately proved to be the difference.

Ryan Mathieson did all he could to get Lara over the line, finishing with 19 points, while Ben McCawley starred for Dolphins with 19 of his own.

Sharks kept alive their slim finals chances with a 67-53 win over Tigers.

Lewie Varley (26 points) and Dane Bow (25) impressed for Sharks.

Simon Evans shared the scoring honours with Andrew Luttrell for Tigers, with both scoring 17 points.

Jason Reardon led ladder-leader Pivot City with 19 points in a 75-50 result against Vytis.

Pivot ran away with the contest after half-time, outscoring the Knights 47-28.

Steve Hyland and Chris Daniele both had 17 points in Try Boys 74-45 victory over Christian College Silver.

Tim King was again Silver’s main offensive threat with 17 points of his own.

Rovers narrowed the gap on fourth-placed Sharks to two points with 59-52 in women’s championship.

Ellie Stevens (16 points) led an even team performance to give Rovers their third win of the season.

State Youth Championship captain Sharon Ford was agains Sharks best with 19 points.

Experienced campaigners Anisa Sijersic (23 points) and Anna Teague (22) spearheaded Try Boys comfortable 66-31 result against YMCA.

Ash Hatton paced an undermanned Y with 13 points.

Ladder leader Pivot City brushed aside Lara 69-37.

Fiona Johnson scored nine of her 17 points in the second quarter as the Pivotonians blew away the Giants with a 25-7 second quarter.

Lady Supercat Caitlin Shadbolt finished with 19 points for Lara.
