Basketball Geelong Championship Wrap Round 16

Vytis moved back into the Basketball Geelong men’s championship top four with a 105-49 win over Rovers in Tuesday night’s round 16 action.

Steve Wiasak again starred for the Knights with 32 points, while Supercats’ rookies Michael Rebula (27) and Lachie Headlam (21) were also impressive.

Andrew Tonkin paced Rovers with 18 points.

Sharks’ finals hopes remain alive after a 92-74 win over Christian College White.

Lewie Varley had 23 points and Shane Hunter 20 as the Sharks moved to within three points of the top four.

Keith Harrison did all he could to get the Eagles- who dropped out of the top four- over the line with 34 points.

Try Boys were made to work for its win over Tigers.

A 30-18 last quarter helped them to an 88-68 victory and shored up second spot.

Paul Hutchison had 22 points.

However, it was Matt Hardiman (20 points) and Patty Phillips (18) who got the Bears home, combining for 21 points in the final period.

Simon Evans had 19 points for Tigers, with Griffen Errey contributing 18.

YMCA had few problems in its 100-38 belting of Lara.

It was the Jordan show for Y, with Finch (23 points) and Hill (22), combining to make light work of the Giants.

Ryan Mathieson was Lara’s best with 17 points.

Pivot City maintained top spot with a comfortable 71-44 win over Christian College Silver.

Veteran big James Walker was best for the Pivotonians with 19 points, while Supercats’ co-captain Jamie Medved scored 17.

Tim King was again Silver’s leading scorer, finishing with 18 points.

Pivot City stretched its unbeaten run in women’s championship to 14 matches with a 62-47 victory against Try Boys.

Ana Marinovic continued her MVP-form with 24 points for Pivot, while Ebony Tannouri had 13.

Anna Teague was the Bears’ leading scorer with 18 points.

Rovers moved to within one point of the top four with a 74-62 win over Dolphins.

Talented youngster Caidie Swayn led Rovers with 17 points, while Lauren Bellegante had 16.

Cortney Williamson was best for Dolphins with 23 points, giving every indication she will be right to return for the Lady Supercats final round home-road double against Hobart and Ballarat.

YMCA scored just its fourth win of a disappointing season with a nail-biting 53-52 result against Sharks.

Candice Rogers carried Y to victory with 25 points.

Georgia Varley had 15 points for Sharks.
