Basketball Geelong Championship Wrap Round 17

Vytis moved two points clear inside the Basketball Geelong men’s championship top four with one round remaining thanks to an 86-57 win over Christian College Silver on Tuesday night.

The Knights were best served by Michael Rebula’s 27 points and 21 from Steve Wiasak.

Matthew Edwards led Silver, who were without star shooter Tim King.

Christian College White now need to beat Vytis in next week’s final round to see playoff action after suffering an 89-69 loss to Pivot City.

Veteran big man James Walker was outstanding for the Pivotonians with 34 points, including eight in the final quarter, while Supercats’ co-captain Jamie Medved had 17.

Nathan Freind (22 points) and Keith Harrison (17) were able to keep the Eagles competitive until three-quarter time, where they trailed by three points.

Dolphins ended Sharks slim finals hopes with a 75-69 win.

Big man Ben McCawley was again dominant inside, finishing with a game-high 27 points.

Dane Bow warmed up for game two of the Big V Division One men’s grand final series with a 25-point haul for Sharks.

Tigers had five players in double-figures, including 17 points from coach Simon Evans, in a 72-55 victory over Rovers.

Josh Symons was Rovers’ best with 16 points.

Try Boys warmed-up for a meeting with Pivot City in the first week of the finals with an 85-59 win over Lara.

Marty De Lange’s 21 points led an even team performance for the Bears, while Ryan Mathieson was Giants’ main offensive threat with 15.

Rovers replaced Sharks inside the women’s championship top four with a 54-46 result.

The two teams were locked at 38-all at three-quarter time, however a Jess Watson inspired Rovers powered home with a 16-8 final term

The Lady Supercat youngster had nine of her 16 points in the last period.

Georgia Varley again impressed for Sharks with 17 points.

Try Boys made light work of an undermanned YMCA roster, winning 60-34,

Anna Teague was at her best for the Bears with 18 points, while Ang Harris was Y’s leading scorer with 13.

Pivot City had few issues in seeing off Lara 55-25.

The Pivotonians remain on track to go through the season undefeated, with Ebony Tannouri their best with 19 points.

Jess Barnard had seven points for the Giants.
