Geelong Pivot City are the 2011 BVC Club Champions

For the first time since 1998, a club outside of Ballarat has won the coveted Max Bowman Shield.

In a dominant performance, Geelong Pivot City were clear winners of the Shield from the highly fancied Ballarat Celtic Tigers.

Pivot City now join the Bendigo Aztec Tigers as 5 time champions, the second highest, since the inception of the Shield in 1977.

Pivot City's President, Craig Porte was presented with the Max Bowman Shield at the conclusion of a very succesful weekend of club basketball.

The Max Bowman Shield is awarded to the Club, based on teams entered, pool wins and titles won.

Pivot City led from the front with a solid Saturday across all age groups.

At the presentation ceremoney, BVC Manager, David Huxtable recognised the work completed by Club and Association volunteers on a weekly basis across Regional Victoria as some of the most important work in basketball.

"This is a great opportunity to thank the tireless workers within clubs and associations who do the tasks that are needed to ensure Country basketballers, Coaches and Referees have a place to play and develop."

The BVC Club Championship is an opportunity for domestic basketball teams to compete for their Club and attempt to become the best Club team in Country Victioria.
