The Geelong Arena Annex Master Plan
Dear Basketball Geelong Member
For the last two years Basketball Geelong has been involved in the development of the Arena Annexe Master Plan, this has been undertaken under the guidance of the SGL consulting group and in consultation with the City of Greater Geelong.
As a result, the Geelong Arena Annexe Master Plan has been published and the City of Greater Geelong are asking you for your valuable feedback.
We have already received feedback from a number of our members that the plan doesn’t allow for additional court space, which is a critical issue for Basketball Geelong. However, Basketball Geelong was aware that this would be the case before the consultation process started, as the current land space and parking availability at the Arena wouldn’t allow for an additional court.
What the plan does do however is address the significant issues we do have within the current facility, and provides solutions that are of enormous value to Basketball Geelong, these being;
- Self contained access – the ability to conduct Basketball as normal, even when other events are being conducted in the auditorium.
- Social Space – for Basketball Geelong and club functions, education and training courses and the ability socialise whilst watching basketball.
- Accessible change rooms that operate independently of the arena as it is increasingly used for events.
We now ask you as a member of Basketball Geelong to have your say and respond to the Annex Master Plan.
