Geelong Basketball League Division 1 Round 5 Wrap

A Jordan Hill-inspired YMCA claimed its second straight win of the Geelong Basketball League Division 1 men’s season with 75-41 smashing of a young Rovers line-up on Tuesday night.

The former Supercats’ skipper nailed 30 points in the comprehensive victory.

He had plenty of support, with both Mitch (16 points) and Riley (12) Herbert among the action.

Chris Eichler again battled hard inside for Rovers and top scored with 15 points.

Pivot City made the most of an almost full-strength roster in putting away Christian College 71-46.

Nick Kent and James Walker both had 16 points for the Pivotonians.

The Eagles’ best was Joel McFall, also with 16 points.

The fine start to the GBL season of both Try Boys and veteran guard Paul Hutchison continued in a 63-54 victory over Vytis.

The Bears made it five-straight wins, with Hutchison contributing 24 points.

Big V Supercat Steve Wiasak again impressed with 17 points.

Playing coach Simon Evans guided Tigers to a narrow 60-56 victory over Sharks.

He finished with 20 points, while big man Griffin Errey shot 16.

Guard duo Dane Bow (17 points) and James Deocampo (15) were Sharks’ best.

A 39-point haul from Anisa Sijersic ensured Try Boys remained second on the GBL Division One women’s ladder.

The Bears held off the challenge of YMCA, and in particular veteran Vicki King (23 points), in a 52-47 victory.

Pivot City leapfrogged Dolphins into third spot with a 62-47 win.

Olivia Cameron impressed for Pivot with 18 points, while Young Lady Supercat Tayla Robertson scored 11.

Hayley Wood was the star for Dolphins, shooting 19 points.

Rovers proved too good for an under-strength Lara, handing out an 83-30 hiding.

Emily Koroneos (23 points) and Jess Watson (16 points) provided the impetus for the win.

Once again Lady Supercat Caitlin Shadbolt shouldered much of the Giants’ offensive load, scoring 17 points.
