Round 7 D1W Try Boy Bears v Rovers

PIVOT CITY consolidated second spot on the Geelong Basketball League Division 1 men’s ladder with an 89-59 win over Vytis on Tuesday night.

Five players scored in double-figures in an even team performance from the Pivotonians, with veteran big man James Walker (18 points) and Nick Kent (16 points) leading the way.

Supercats’ rookie Michael Rebula was the Knights’ best with 26 points.

However he had little support with both Steve Wiasak and Lachie Headlam not playing.

Christian College proved too strong for Rovers, coasting to a 96-43 victory.

Nathan Freind impressed with 32 points for the Eagles, while Marcus Larcombe contributed 26.

Rovers, who went into the contest with just five players, were best served by Chris Eichler’s 16 points.

Riley Herbert and Jordan Hill combined to help YMCA sneak a 73-67 win over Sharks.

Herbert finished with 21 points, while Jordan Hill shot 18.

Dane Bow paced Sharks with 29 points in another impressive shooting performance.

Try Boys extended its unbeaten start to the season to seven matches with a 79-43 result against Dolphins.

Paul Hutchison was again the star for the Bears, dropping 26 points.

As usual he had an impressive support cast.

Geelong Big V championship teammates Chris Daniele (23 points) and Marty De Lange (16) helped to keep the scoreboard ticking over.

Ben McCawley was again the shining light for Dolphins, scoring 12 points.

A Cortney Williamson-inspired Dolphins’ side pinched a thrilling 78-76 win over Sharks in the GBL women’s competition.

The pint-sized Lady Supercats’ guard finished with 41 points in another stunning performance.

Kim Martin ensured there was enough scoring support, with the talented big scoring 21 points.

Georgia Varley’s impressive run of form at GBL and Big V level continued, leading the Sharks’ scoring with 26 points.

Rovers maintained its unbeaten start to the season with a 60-44 result against likely title challenger Try Boys.

A 20-point haul from Jess Watson was best for Rovers, while Katherine Brockett had 12 for the Bears.
