Vytis consolidated third spot on the Geelong Basketball League men’s Division 1 ladder with a 70-50 win over Dolphins on Tuesday night.

The Knights had four players in double-figures for the contest, with Supercats’ rookie Michael Rebula their best with 18 points.

In contrast, Ben McCawley was the only Dolphin who consistently tested the defence of Vytis, finishing with 21 points.

Tigers kept alive their slim finals hopes with a 63-50 victory against the winless Rovers.

Simon Evans again paced Tigers scoring, dropping 15 points.

He was well supported by Ben Scannell’s 13 points.

Improving youngster Adrian Van Etten kept Rovers competitive with a season-high 18 points.

Pivot City maintained top spot with a comfortable 55-38 result against YMCA.

Veteran big man James Walker (13 points) and Nick Kent (12) were best on the scoresheet in an even team performance.

Rising star Ash Motiani (16 points) and former Supercats’ captain Jordan Hill (10) were Y’s best.

Geelong great Paul Hutchison proved the difference in Try Boys 65-46 win over Christian College.

He finished with 25 points as the Bears bounced back from their first loss of the season.

George Blagojevic had 16 points for the Eagles before fouling out.

Lara nearly caused the upset of the GBL women’s Division 1 season, falling just short of ladder-leader Rovers in a 59-57 loss.

The stunning form of Caitlin Shadbolt (25 points) continued for the Giants.

However the depth of Rovers told out in the end, with Lady Supercats’ skipper Kylie Morrissy their best with 22 points.

Pivot City made the most of the absence of star Dolphins’ guard Cortney Williamson, handing out a 62-28 hiding.

Bianca Cheever (15 points) and Lauren Moloney (14) were the stars for Pivot.

Mikaela Watson’s seven points were best for Dolphins.

YMCA was too strong for Try Boys 50-31.

Veteran guard Vicki King carried over her impressive Big V form with 15 points.

Lady Supercats’ teammate Kendyl Collins paced the Bears, finishing with 10 points.
