Geelong Basketball League Division 1 Round 15 Wrap

The Geelong Basketball League Division 1 men’s finals hopes of Tigers remain alive following Tuesday night’s Round 15 action.

Despite suiting up just five players, Tigers were able to get past Dolphins 87-58 to pull within four points of fourth-placed Sharks.

Playing coach Simon Evans led from the front with 25 points, while Rob Harding chipped in with 17.

Mikey Lesic again paced Dolphins’ scoring, shooting 13 points.

Pivot City maintained top spot with a 70-43 result against Rovers.

Trevor Hartwick impressed for the Pivotonians with 21, and was well supported by 14 points from former SEABL Supercat Luke Osborn.

Andrew Tonkin was best for Rovers with 14 points.

Try Boys ensured they stayed just percentage behind Pivot City, holding off Sharks 75-64.

Chris Daniele warmed up for Geelong’s Big V elimination final against Hawthorn on Saturday night by dropping 24 points for the Bears.

Supercats’ teammate Dane Bow was similarly impressive for Sharks, scoring 29 points.

Vytis all but locked away a finals berth after rolling YMCA 74-55.

Steve Wiasak (24 points) and Michael Rebula (21 points) provided an impressive one-two punch for the Knights.

Lewis Varley continued his solid form for Y, leading the way with 19 points.

The GBL Division 1 women’s top four is nearly set with four rounds remaining.

YMCA sealed its spot in the finals with a 50-45 result against Dolphins.

Vicki King was again the leader scorer for Y, finishing with 16 points.

Ebony Rolph’s 21 points kept Dolphins competitive.

Ladder leader Rovers flexed its muscle with a 70-36 rout of Sharks.

Tania Du Plessis (19 points) and Ellie Stevens (17) were instrumental for Rovers.

Georgia Varley was the only Shark in double-figures, scoring 13 points.

Try Boys consolidated second spot with a comfortable 53-34 result against Lara.

The Bears made the most of the absence of SEABL Lady Supercats’ Abby Schrader and Caitlin Shadbolt.

Anisa Sijercic (15 points) and Elise Flynn (13 points) dominated the scoresheet for Try Boys, while Tayla Reid dropped 12 points for the Giants.
