GBL Winter Championship Wrap April 30th

An impressive 25-6 final quarter burst helped Sharks to a 59-49 win over YMCA in GBL Championship men’s action on Tuesday night at Geelong Arena.

Sharks trailed 43-34 at the last break before going on the rampage in the fourth period.

Dane Bow was the architect for the winners, finishing with 23 points, including five makes from outside the three-point line.

Fellow former SEABL Supercat Kris Van Parreren paced Y’s scoring with 18 points.

Vytis had the better of an undermanned Try Boys with a 71-61 victory.

Lachie Headlam impressed with 25 points for the Knights.

Veteran big man Marty De Lange did all he could to keep the Bears close. He scored 28 points, while teammate Chris Daniele finished with 21.

Christian College made light work of Rovers, 84-48.

The Eagles put the game to bed with a 61-27 first half.

Jackson Bentley carried his solid Big V Youth Championship form into the match, scoring 22 points, while Young Supercats teammate Joel McFall finished with 16.

Cameron Mays (14 points) and brother Ryan (13) were best for Rovers.

Zac Moore paced Pivot City with 23 points in a comfortable 84-51 result against Dolphins.

The Pivotonians opened up the contest with a 25-13 second quarter.

Marcus Anderson was best for Dolphins with 11 points.

Geelong Lady Supercats captain Cortney Williamson starred with 28 points in Dolphins 75-66 win over Pivot City in GBL Championship women’s action.

Kim Martin and Ebony Rolph (both 14 points) provided plenty of support.

Youth League Lady Supercat Lauren Moloney was best for Pivot with 21 points, while Bianca Cheever scored 17.

Rovers handed Lara a 70-40 hiding, thanks to Lana Ryder’s 20 point performance.

Lady Supercats’ import Abby Schrader was best for the Giants with 16 points.

Sharks had too many stars for YMCA to handle in a 59-46 result.

Guard trio Georgia Varley (19 points), Alex Duck (15) and Jesse Christiaans (11) proved too much for Y to handle.

Big V Lady Supercat Kathy Mallon (15 points) and young guard Shaan Blythe (14) kept YMCA competitive.
