GBL Winter Championship Round Up - Round 14

A star-studded Pivot City roster has maintained second spot on the GBL Winter Championship men’s ladder after a narrow 77-72 win over Christian College at Geelong Arena on Tuesday night.

SEABL Supercats big man Ash Cannan top scored for the Pivotonians with 16, while Jason Reardon finished with 14 and young gun Dusty Duggan 13.

Centre Liam McInerney was the Eagles best with 21, while teenage sensation George Blagojevic had 19.

The loss leaves Christian College exposed in fourth place on the ladder, just three points clear of the chasing pack.

Ladder leader YMCA had no problems in defeating a short-handed Rovers’ roster 72-36.

Jordan Hill had a game-high 20 points before fouling out. He was well supported by 12 points from Chris Brown.

Adam Coombes was again Rovers most potent threat on offence, finishing with 10 points.

A Dane Bow-inspired Sharks all but locked down a finals berth with an 87-75 win over Try Boys.

The Big V Supercat was outstanding with a season-high 35 points, including nine three-point makes.

Craig Jarvis (18 points) and Seamus Hants (15) provided crucial support as Sharks claimed their ninth win of the season.

Marty DeLange (23 points) and Chris Daniele (21) were the offensive threats for the Bears.

The key Dolphins trio of Anthony Kimble, Mikey Lesic and Ben McCawley combined to cause a minor upset of Vytis, 78-66.

They scored 72 of Dolphins points, who came storming home with a 26-13 final term.

The Knights, who finished the match with just four players on the floor, are now five points adrift of the top four with six rounds to play.

The GBL Winter Championship women’s top four is all but settled following after Lara got past Pivot City 66-55.

The Giants victory has opened up a seven-point gap between them and Pivot in the fight for fourth spot.

SEABL Lady Supercat duo Caitlin Shadbolt and Abby Schrader both had 16 points for Lara, with Jo Chambers contributing 12.

Olivia Cameron (20 points) and Bianca Cheever (18) kept Pivot City competitive.

An 18-2 first quarter proved decisive in Rovers 64-40 victory over YMCA.

Ellie Stevens was a class above with 23 points for the winners, with teammate Kylie Morrissy scoring 11.

In her return from Denmark, Charmaine Ferguson paced Y with 15 points, while Kathy Mallon scored nine.

Sharks quest for the double-chance has been aided by a comfortable 79-50 result against Try Boys.

Alex Duck made a welcome return with 23 points for the winners, while Maddy White poured in 20.

Katherine Brockett (18 points) and Vanessa McFall (13) were the mainstays for the Bears.
