Media Release

Basketball Geelong is pleased to announce the appointment of Dean Anglin, former General Manager of K-ROCK and BayFM as the CEO of Basketball Geelong, including the Geelong Supercats. Mr Anglin has spent the last six years with Geelong Broadcasters and has been instrumental in the rejuvenation of both K-ROCK and BayFM over the past 4 ½ years.

Basketball Geelong Chair, Chris Burrell, said today “we are very excited to have someone of Dean’s calibre join our passionate team as we continue to drive Basketball Geelong to new heights.”

“Dean not only brings an amazing understanding of local business in Geelong, but with his involvement in grassroots and elite baseball, he brings an understanding of what it takes to deliver results at all levels of sport as well.”

After 16 years in the media it was time for Dean to follow his passion into sports administration. “Making the move into sport was one part of the attraction of the role; being able to do achieve that passion and stay in Geelong made the offer impossible to say no to.”

A keen sports fan, Dean has attended Supercats games as a sponsor for the past 6 years and is excited by the endless possibilities for the elite teams and domestic basketball association.

In a letter sent to the radio station clients today Dean said “I am excited by the opportunities that the organisation presents. The Supercats are about to embark on their 16th consecutive playoff appearance and as the only Victorian club to field senior teams in both SEABL and Big V competitions, plus with over 3500 weekly domestic basketball participants Basketball Geelong is ideally placed to provide an environment for social to elite basketballers.”

During his time in radio Dean has established relationships with numerous clients around the Geelong region and is looking forward to working with businesses all over the region to provide the best basketball experience possible at the Arena.

Dean will formally start his role with Basketball Geelong on 1st October 2013.
