Olympic basketballer Trisha Fallon was yesterday inducted into the Kardinia Park Legends Plaza.

Fallon said she was honoured to be included and looked forward to welcoming a lot more inductees.

"It just shows how strong sport is in Geelong," she said, crediting the YMCA and a 1986 WNBL finals showcase match in Geelong for igniting her basketball passion.

"I saw it and I loved it and ended up playing with some of those women.

"I've been really fortunate to travel the world, do what I love and make a career out of it."

The dual silver medallist listed the Olympics as career highlights, with Sydney an extra special moment.

"The Olympics are so huge, it's hard to explain, but playing in front of a home crowd at Sydney was fantastic," Fallon said.

Recently returned to Melbourne, Fallon said she hoped to get into coaching at grassroots clubs and inspire the next generation of legends.

City Hall sport and recreation portfolio holder Cr John Irvine said Fallon and Lloyd had reached the pinnacle of their respective sports and deserved to recognised.

"Graeme and Trish combined show excellent character and integrity and the Legends Plaza induction event was a great opportunity to celebrate and honour our very own sporting greats," Cr Irvine said.
