GBL Winter Championship Division 1 Wrap- Round 3

THE stunning early season form of Alex Duck has continued has Sharks maintained its unbeaten start to the GBL Winter Championship season at Geelong Arena on Tuesday night.

After posting 40 points the week before, the SEABL Lady Supercat torched Dolphins for 41 in a 98-58 win.

Georgia Varley (20) and Rebecca Lane (18) were also among the points for the defending champions.

Ebony Rolph led Dophins scoring with 18 points, while Cortney Williamson had 15.

YMCA opened its 2014 Winter Championship account with a 63-40 win over Try Boys.

Y had four players in double figures, led by Maddy Taylor with 19 points and 18 from Charmaine Ferguson.

Guard Kendyl Collins was best for the Bears with 15 points.

Pivot City proved too good for Lara with a 45-30 result giving it its first victory of the season.

Teenage big Lauren Moloney had 14 points, while Shayno Poto (12) and Fiona Johnson (10) provided the support.

Missing Caitlin Shadbolt took its toll on the Giants, who were best served by 11 points from Brittney Murray-Rowe.

Sharks handed Christian College its first loss of the season, claiming a nail biting 49-48 win.

The Eagles had two chances late to take the lead, but both attempts missed.

Dane Bow (11 points) and Nathan Moore (10) led an even Sharks’ performance, while Jackson Bentley paced Christian College with 21 points.

Defending champion Pivot City moved into a share of top spot with a comfortable 83-46 victory over the previously unbeaten Lara.

Jason Reardon and Matt McCormack both had 15 points for the Pivotonians, while Dusty Duggan contributed 12.

James Box was best for the Giants with 12.

Mitch Norton starred with 25 points as a Try Boys came from behind to defeat YMCA 71-57.

The Bears outscored Y 45-26 after the main break, with Norton scoring 18 across the final two periods.

Hunter Bourke also impressed with 20 points.

Kris Van Parreren and Lewie Varley had 16 apiece for YMCA.
