Lara has further cemented its spot inside the GBL Winter Championship men’s Division 1 top four with a 75-68 win over Sharks at Geelong Arena on Tuesday night.

The Giants, who went into the clash without Geelong Supercats star Ash Cannan, laid the foundation for their sixth win of the season with a 24-13 opening period.

Big man Lindsay Cole was again impressive with 20 points, while guard Mikey Lesic (17 points) also proved to be a handful.

In the absence of quality shooter Dane Bow, Arnaud Lenferna paced Sharks scoring with 20 points.

Lewie Varley has spearheaded YMCA to a 72-54 win over Vytis.

The SEABL Supercats back-up guard exploded for 33 points.

Riley Herbert was again the perfect foil with 18 points.

Steve Wiasak played a lone hand for the Knights with 27 points.

Sharks kept alive its women’s finals hopes alive with a 66-42 win over Lara.

The reigning champions secured the three points with a 21-7 second period, turning a four-point lead into an 18-point advantage.

In the absence of star guard Alex Duck, Georgia Varley continued her good run of form with 24 points.

Becky Lane (16 points) and Jesse Christiaans provided able support.

Alex Hillman and Tayla Reid had 11 points apiece (14) for an undermanned Giants squad.

Despite being without SEABL Lady Supercats captain Cortney Williamson, Dolphins overcame Try Boys, 69-55.

Dolphins trailed by two points at the main break before outscoring the Bears 23-10 in the third period.

Kim Martin finished with 20 points in her best offensive performance of the year, while Mikaela Watson (13 points) and Ebony Rolph (10) made important contributions.

The impressive shooting form of Kendyl Collins continued, knocking down seven three-point attempts in her 25 points, while fellow Big V Lady Supercat Tash Daffy scored 15.

YMCA remained in top spot with a comfortable 58-33 result against Rovers.

Both teams went in without key players, however Y’s depth proved to be the difference.

Veteran guard Vicki King finished with 17 points and Maddy McMahon impressed again with 16.

Emily Koroneos and Lauren Bellegante were best for Rovers with seven points apiece.
