Geelong Juniors win big at Easter Classic

Basketball Geelong's under-14 boys (1) representative team has scored a big win by claiming the A Grade title at the Norwood Easter Classic tournament in Adelaide.

One of the biggest and most important junior tournaments in Australia, Norwood presented a big challenge for the Geelong boys, but they answered it with an unbeaten run through the event.

After beating Forestville (64-22), Norwood (2) (91-23), Woodville (75-10) and Norwood (1) (57-21) during the preliminary rounds, Geelong carried its form into the finals.

Geelong beat Sturt, 42-21 in the semi-final before topping Melbourne, 35-24, in Monday's grand final.

While the tournament win will be a massive boost for the Geelong boys, it will also set them up nicely for the country championships in a fortnight.

Coached by Shawn Andrews and Assistant Coach Linda Rickett, the Geelong team that won in Adelaide was: Jayden Barber, Harrison Bennett, George Blagojevic, Jed Evans, Nicholas Hogan, James Koroneos, Tim Lancaster, Ashish Motiani, Taylor Read and PJ Tannouri.
