Your Council elections will be underway by the time you read this.

You may have an issue that you are passionate about in the upcoming council election and we respect completely that you will make a choice based on your views and interests.

Many however will not yet have formed a view of why they might choose one candidate over another…and for that reason we are seeking your support.  .

A presentation has been circulated to every council candidate that we could contact over the last two weeks.  You can download it from the bottom of this page (1mb).

Many candidates have taken the time to respond; almost universally they have indicated support for what we are asking.  We really appreciate that.  

Below we have summarised the feedback from those that agreed to  meet with us or contacted us and indicated their support.   If you can, we’d like you to support one of these candidates in the coming election by:

Lodging your vote for them and if you can, write to that candidate and tell them of your reason for voting.

Austin Ward - Beangala Ward - Cheetham Ward  - Deakin Ward

In each of these wards the incumbent will be re-elected unopposed.  Residents in these wards will not be required to vote.

Brownbill Ward

Barbara Abley  - indicated she would be pleased to provide whatever assistance she could if re-elected.
James Bayliss – indicated he supported our proposal.
Paul Sullivan – met with us at the Arena and gave us an opportunity to explain our situation

Buckley Ward

Mick Alexander – provided an email of support and offered to meet if elected
Fiona Lorimer – provided an email of congratulations on our presentation and offered to meet if elected
Sue Murphy – indicated by email her support if elected
Andy Richards – email and offered to assist in lobbying state and federal government if elected

Corio Ward

Alan Savage – emailed and offered support if elected
John McCarthy – met with us at the Arena and gave us an opportunity to explain our situation

Coryule Ward

Bob Hines – emailed and offered support if elected

Cowie Ward

David Saunderson – both met with us and offered an email of support and congratulations
Eddy Kontelj – met with us at the Arena and gave us an opportunity to explain our situation and indicated his support
Vinko Ljubanovic - met with us at the Arena and gave us an opportunity to explain our situation

Kardinia Ward

Bruce Harwood – met with us at City Hall with Council staff and offered us a chance to explain our position – he is supportive of our situation
Russell Menzies – met with us at the Arena and gave us an opportunity to explain our situation an offered support
Lee Chandler – emailed and offered to meet if elected
Darren Gilmore – emailed and offered support if elected

Kildare Ward

Stretch Kontelj - met with us at the Arena and gave us an opportunity to explain our situation and offered support

Windermere Ward

Cameron Grainger -  phoned and indicated his support for a better deal for Basketball Geelong at the Arena

Sue Mclean - spoke with a BG Board member and offered her support if elected

Nathan Oakes - emailed a BG resident from Lara and offered his support if elected.
