The Magic pulled off a rare feat by going undefeated through the Pre Season tournament in their first season, however this Geelong side are untested waters and loom as a big challenge to the Magic in their first regular season Youth League game. Although the Cats fell short of finals action last season by a single win, their dominance on the boards loomed large over the league all season, and they will look to continue this trend, and establish an advantage inside.

Emerging as the strongest offensive outfit at MSAC, the Magic have shown an uncanny ability to come up with the goods in close contests, recording three wins of 4 points or less, and will have every reason to be confident if this game goes down to the wire.

 

Werribee Devils V Geelong Cats

The Cats will be coming off a tough Saturday night clash at Hawthorn, giving the Devils every chance to snatch a first round victory here. After a very disappointing 2008 season which saw the Devils record just two wins from 22 matches, the pressure will be on for the Devils to record some wins early and restore their place among the league’s top teams.

Faced with the tough task of two games in the opening round, the Cats will be hopeful of recording 2 wins and set the pace for the competition, however nothing will come easily for them, and they will have to follow up Saturday night’s effort with a big performance here to overcome a Werribee outfit which showed some promising signs at the Pre Season tournament.
