CHANNEL SEVEN’S MARK BERETTA CONFIRMED TO HOST WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT

Channel Seven’s popular ‘Sunrise’ sports anchorman Mark Beretta has been confirmed as the host of Basketball Australia’s Brand Launch and world record dribbling attempt at Melbourne’s Federation Square on Tuesday 7 April.

A former NBL television commentator, Beretta will fly down from Sydney especially to MC the event.

He will join members of the Australian Boomers and Opals on stage to Launch Basketball’s New Brand and prepare the crowd of enthusiastic dribblers for their tilt at a place in the record books.

The attempt will take place on Tuesday 7 April from 12:30pm to 2:30pm in Melbourne’s Federation Square.

An attempt will be made to better the mark of 1,289 people currently recognised by the Guinness World Records book set on 17 May 2007 in Edinburgh.

The world record attempt is free to participate and open to everyone, with all registered participants receiving a certificate after the event that will also include a group photo of the record breakers.  Participants just need to bring a basketball and register on-line using the link below.

There will be random prizes and giveaways for the world record attempt participants as well as live entertainment on the day. Opals and Boomers players will also be present for an autograph signing session.

To register on-line just click here.

The event will also see the unveiling for the first time of the new branding for Australian basketball, which will unify all levels of the sport.  As part of the on-going reform of the sport, every aspect of basketball from local associations up to the elite senior national teams will for the first time operate with a single unified brand look and feel.
