An Audrey Muse-inspired Sharks have caused the first upset of the season in the Basketball Geelong women’s competition, defeating perennial finalists Rovers 61-52 on Tuesday night.

The Lady Cats American import scored 23 points, including 10 in the final quarter, to guide her young teammates to a nine point win.

Kelly Snell provided the scoring support for Muse, finishing with 15 points, while Prue Kenny starred for Rovers with 26.

In the other women’s games, Pivot City, thanks to a 16 point head start were too strong for Rovers Hawks 56-27.

And Try Boys, thanks to double-figure hauls from College-bound twins Katherine and Chantelle Brockett, hammered an undermanned YMCA.

Sharks Grey held off a fast finishing Vytis for a 63-61 victory in the closest match of the men’s competition.

Sharks took a 12 point lead into three-quarter time after a 10 point third quarter from back-up Supercats’ guard Dane Bow.

However Vytis, on the back of 11 points from Big V Cat Romas Liebich in the final quarter, mounted an impressive charge, which ultimately fell short.

Bow finished with 31 points, while Liebich compiled 27.

In the other men’s matches, Pivot City belted Sharks Black 107-29, with Supercats’ star Jason Reardon scoring 34.

Fellow Supercat Chris Dunlop knocked down 32 points in Christian College Eagles’ 89-29 victory over Dolphins.

And in the final hame Tryboys, thanks to 16 points from Nathan Maxwell, were too strong for Lara Giants, 56-35, despite 18 from Chris Lewis.
