Geelong Supercat duo Nathan Herbert and Daniel George have turned in dominant displays in round 5 of Basketball Geelong Division One action on Tuesday night.

Herbert celebrated his selection in the national squad only 24 hours earlier with a 28 point haul in YMCA’s 79-23 hammering of Lara.

Meanwhile George had an impressive 34 points, including 18 in the second quarter, of Pivot City’s 100-39 smashing of Dolphins.

Fellow Supercat Jason Reardon and young gun Stefan Osborne both 21, to give the Pivotonians an imposing triple threat in the scoring department.

In a night of one-sided results, Try Boys Bears, with veteran Marty De Lange in fine form with 34 points, were too good for a Sharks Grey line-up missing key guards Nathan Moore and Emerson Varley, getting home easily 90-54.

Youth League Cat Rob Harding scored a season high 26 points in Try Boys comfortable 74-44 victory against Sharks Black.

Big V back-up guard Romas Liebich dropped 27 points, while Youth League swingman Michael Rebula had 21, as Vytis showed no mercy to an undermanned Tigers’ outfit 98-65.

Ben Scannell continued his fine scoring touch for Tigers finishing with 32 points.

The women’s games were highlighted by a 57-all draw between Rovers and Try Boys.

Former Lady Cat Prue Kenny had 28 points for Rovers to almost carry them to an upset victory over the Bears.

Another former Geelong star in Anisa Sijersic led Try Boys’ scoring with 19 points, while Lady Cats co-captain Sarah De Grandi chipped in with 14.

Young star Ellie Stevens (18 points) and Emily Koroneos (14 points) combined to help Rovers Hawks to a 54-47 win over Sharks.

Stevens set up the victory with 10 first quarter points, which gave the Hawks a handy 25-14 lead at the first break.

In the final game, YMCA’s Madi Koehler made a welcome return to action in a 60-28 win over arch rivals Pivot City.

Her 15 points nullified the 19 provided by star Pivot junior Jamie Rodden.
