Big V Geelong Preview (Round 10)
Geelong Lady Cats (2-8)
Big V State
Championship
vs.
Lady Cats coach Darren
Busuttil remains committed to winning more games than he loses in the second
half of the season. However he’s already behind the eight ball following
Saturday night’s 13 point loss to Bullen. It doesn’t get any easier against
Big V Division One
vs. Altona (3-9) @
Altona Sports Centre, Sunday 3.00pm
The Cats will be keen
to go into the Queen’s Birthday break with a 9-4 record which will have them
well placed for a top two finish and a chance at redeeming last year’s grand
final loss to Sunbury. Star shooter Keith Harrison returned in the weekend’s 21
point hammering of Bulleen after missing more than a month with a dislocated ankle.
Although he finished with just two points, he managed to get through more than
20 minutes on court, and the former Supercats name on the team sheet is enough
to strike fear into the rest of the Division One competition. The previous
meeting between the Cats and the Gators, back in round five, resulted in a 102-91
win for
Big V Youth League Two
vs. Sunbury (8-4) @ Boardman
Centre, Sunday 1.00pm
The Youth League squad
returned to the winners’ list on Sunday with a gutsy one point victory over
fellow top-two contenders Altona. This week Dave Brown’s charges face another
tough challenge against Sunbury. This clash has plenty of extra spice, and not
only because the victor will jump into second spot behind Hawthorn. The Cats
will be looking for revenge after being beaten by the Jets in double-overtime
on Mother’s Day. They’ll also be hoping to regain injured duo Simon Evans and
Nathan Moore for the clash.
