YMCA withstood a final quarter fight-back from Try Boys to hold on for a 56-52 win in Basketball Geelong Division One women’s action on Tuesday night.

Y led the Bears by 15 points at the final change however a 16-5 final quarter, including seven points from College-bound Lady Cat Chantelle Brockett, made for an exciting finish.

Maddy Taylor and Madi Koehler both had 16 points for YMCA, while Anisa Sijersic finished with 15 for Try Boys.

Rovers consolidated its spot on top of the ladder with a 57-47 win over an improving Sharks outfit.

Prue Kenny again top scored for Rovers, finishing with 15 points, while Sharon Ford had 14 for Sharks.

Rovers Hawks were too strong for an undermanned Pivot City 46-23.

However, the Pivotonians welcomed back Bianca Cheever (14 points), who is home from College in the US.

Try Boys Bears defeated their clubmates Try Boys in a clinical performance, 81-44.

The Bears laid the foundation for the win with a 16-5 first quarter, and were never troubled from then on.

Big V guard Patrick Phillips and former Supercat Mick Watson both had 18 points for the winners, while Youth League star Rob Harding had 12 for the losers.

Pivot City continued its fine first half of the season with a comfortable 83-49 victory over Sharks Grey, with Supercat Daniel George finishing with 36 points.

Chris Dunlop had 28 points, including 18 in the first half, as Christian College Eagles disposed of Tigers 85-56.

YMCA had five players in double figures in the 86-54 win over Vytis, while Lara Giants continued Dolphins winless start to the season 47-40.
