Geelong Supercats’ teammates Nick Owusu and Nathan Herbert have gone head-to-head in an old-fashioned shoot-out in Tuesday night’s highly anticipated clash round 11 Basketball Geelong division one clash between Christian College and YMCA.

Owusu had 34 points for the Eagles, while Herbert dropped 40 for Y, but it was Owusu’s side which came out in front in the scoreboard, with a thrilling 89-88 victory in one of the matches of the season.

While Christian College and YMCA were battling it out, Pivot City retained top spot with a 104-49 smashing of Try Boys.

Jason Reardon continued the good night for Supercats, scoring 29 points, with support from Stefan Osborne (27) and Adam Clapinski (23).

Try Boys Bears thrashed Sharks Black 89-32, as Big V backcourt duo Pat Phillips and Paul Hutchison both finished with 19 points.

Sharks Grey remained within touching distance of the top four with a gritty 61-53 victory over Lara, with Supercat Dane Bow knocking down 17 points.

Marty Liebich (30 points) and Michael Rebula (28) combined to help Vytis to a comfortable 78-47 win over Dolphins.

Rovers had five players score in double figures in its 107-56 belting of Pivot City, maintaining a five-point gap at the top of the women’s division one table. Prue Kenny again starred for Rovers, scoring 33, but had plenty of support from Lana Ryder (22) and Tania Du Plessis (18).

Bianca Cheever played a lone hand for the Pivotonians with 20 points.

Try Boys held onto second spot with a 69-40 win over Sharks, with college-bound twins Katherine (22 points) and Chantelle Brockett (18) the stars.

Madi Koehler (29 points) was the star in YMCA’s 86-50 thumping of Rovers Hawks.
