Vytis’ finals Basketball Geelong division one finals hopes have taken a hit on Tuesday night, following a 68-64 loss to Try Boys Bears.

The loss leaves the Knights’ a game and percentage outside the top four.

Veteran duo Paul Hutchison and Marty De Lange combined for 46 of the Bears’ points, while Romas Liebich (25) played a lone hand for Vytis.

Pivot City consolidated top spot on the table with a comfortable 83-47 win over Lara Giants.

Jason Reardon scored 29 for the Pivotonians, while Supercats’ teammate Jamie Medved, in his first match of the season, had 15.

YMCA stayed inside the top four with an 80-47 victory over Sharks Grey, Christan College remained within two points of Pivot City after smashing Sharks Black 103-23, and Try Boys kept alive its slim finals chances with a 79-58 win against Tigers.

Pivot City moved back into a share of fourth-place with an upset 60-46 win over Try Boys in the women’s competition.

Ebony Tannouri scored 16 points and Bianca Cheever had 14 for the Pivotonians.

Try Boys, who were missing Anisa Sijersic and Tash Daffy, were best served by veteran centre Sarah De Grandi with 16.

YMCA made the most of Try Boys loss, to jump back into second spot with a 58-37 win over a Sharks’ line-up missing Lady Cats’ import Audrey Muse.

Skipper Vicki Mallon finished with 17 points for Y, while Kelly Snell had 12 for Sharks.
