BG Championship Wrap (Round 15)

Try Boys have thrown the Basketball Geelong women’s Division One title race wide open with a 77-20 smashing of ladder leader Rovers on Tuesday night.

The Brockett twins, who leave for the US College system next week, again dominated on the scoresheet for the Bears.

Chantelle finished with 24 points and Katherine 15, while former Lady Cat Anisa Sijersic had 21.

Rovers, who again went in without Dandenong WNBL squad member Prue Kenny, were led by Lana Ryder’s 9 points.

Jamie Rodden continued her solid season with a 17 point haul in Pivot City’s 50-41 victory over YMCA.

A 19-11 second quarter opened the game up for the Pivotonians, and all but secured them a finals berth with four rounds to play.

Lady Cats’ import Audrey Muse’s final game on Australian soil before she returns to the US on Friday has been a memorable one.

Muse had a chance to keep Sharks finals hopes alive when she went to the line for three free-throws after the final siren to win the clash with Rovers Hawks.

She missed the first attempt, but held her nerve to knock down the last two to snatch a 44-all draw.

Christian College and Pivot City remain tied for ladder leadership in the men’s competition following comfortable wins.

The Eagles blew the clash with Try Boys Bears open with a 58-37 first half, before going on to win 89-62.

While Pivot, thanks to 28 points from Supercat Jason Reardon, were too strong for Vytis 73-46.

In other games, YMCA’s kept its top two hopes alive with a 68-38 hammering of Try Boys, Sharks Black recorded their first win of the season 55-46 over an undermanned Tigers, and Sharks Grey had the better of the winless Dolphins 54-34.
