IPC Powerlifting
Dates of Competition
Monday 11 May - Tuesday 12 May
Women: Monday May 11: Weigh in 09:00am until 11:00am
Competition start time: 11:00am
Men: Monday May 11th: Weigh in 1:00pm until 2:30pm
Competition start time: 2:30pm
Depending on the number of entries, competition may also be held on Tuesday 12 May. A final schedule will be available on the Arafura Games site following the close of entries on April 10 2009.
Venue
The Playhouse, Darwin Entertainment Centre, Mitchell St, Darwin.
The Playhouse is an amphitheatre style layout, able to seat 1000 spectators, with excellent amenities and warm up areas.
The Official Training venue is the Northern Territory Institute of Sport at the Mararra Sporting Precinct.
Competition format and results
Competition will be run in accordance with IPC Powerlifting rules and regulations.
The Oceania Paralympic Championships competition will use a combined class format.
Results will be determined using the AH Coefficient formula, that compares results across body weight categories. Records and world rankings for the individual categories will be recognised and there will be separate competitions for men and women.

Entry Standards
There are no entry standards for the IPC Powerlifting at the Oceania Paralympic Championships.
Classification
Only athletes who meet the IPC Powerlifting minimal eligibility criteria will be eligible to compete at the Games.
ALL athletes must attend classification despite International classification status. Classification will be conducted on May 10 so athletes must be in Darwin by May 9.
Athletes will be notified of their appointment time following the closure of entries.
Entry
Entry to OPC events closes on 10 April 2009.
Online accreditation is a 2 step process and must be commenced immediately.

Minimum age for Oceania Paralympic Championships
Athletes must be 14 years of age prior to date of competition.
Awarding of Medals
All athletes with a disability who meet minimum disability criteria for IPC Powerlifting will be eligible for Arafura Games medals. OPC medals will be awarded to athletes from OPC member nations to a maximum of two (2) athletes per country per event.
IPC Records & Rankings Points
Only athletes holding a current IPC License will be eligible to have their results considered for World and Regional rankings and records.
Athletes should contact their National Paralympic Committee for further information.
Technical Meeting
A Technical Meeting will be held on Sunday May 10 at a time to be confirmed following the close of entries.
Accommodation
The IPC Powerlifting Competition will be held at The Darwin Entertainment Centre.
There are several options within close proximity including the Holiday Inn which is attached to the Darwin Entertainment Centre.
Transfers and transportation
Airport transfers and venue transportation are provided free of charge to all accredited athletes and officials and is fully accessible.
Cost
There is no entry fee for the Oceania Paralympic Championships. Athletes are responsible for travel to Darwin, meals, accommodation, visa costs and other incidentals.
Visa Information
Information on Visa requirements is available at the Arafura Games website. The organising committee are unable to provide official letters of invitation or assistance to athletes who do not hold a relevant visa.
