Jillian Haughton - Development Coordinator

Jill has been involved in basketball since she first began playing Under 8's in Mackay over 15 years ago. Jill completed her junior representative playing career in Townsville where she attended all state classics from under 12, through to under 18. 

 

Throughout her junior career, Jill represented both Queensland and Australia in a number of different teams and age groups. Her highlights throughout her juniors included captaining multiple Queensland teams, earning a basketball scholarship to the  Australian Institute of Sport (2008-2009) and attending the Under 19 World Championships in 2009 while representing Australia.

 

During her time in Townsville, Jill also represented both the Townsville Fire (WNBL) and Townsville Flames (QBL). After deciding to make the move to Mackay, Jill went on to represent the Mackay Meteorettes in the QBL, where she won three consecutive state championships.

 

While representing Mackay, Jill has had the opportunity to work with young aspiring basketballers throughout Aussie hoops programs, 'So You Think You Can Play' programs and children's holiday camps. 

 

She is currently finishing up a Bachelor of Professional Communication degree with Central Queensland University. As a part of this degree, Jill majored in marketing, but also completed many public relations subjects.
