Game for Charity Raises $9000

IPSWICH Basketball's annual Game for Charity was a huge success despite both teams going down to Toowoomba.

While still waiting for the final total, approximately $9000 was raised for MS Australia and Camp Quality.

A big thank you to major sponsors of the night - Dwight Hicks Constructions, The Coffee Club and Hoop2Hoop as well as minor uniform sponsors Walker Pender, First National Springfield, Press Business Machines and Surface Archetype.

Thank you also to Golden Hammer Screenprinting for kindly donating the Charity Match T-shirts for each of the players and coaches of the men's and women's teams.

The annual Game for Charity is basketball's way of helping others and giving back to the community.

The charities chosen were ones that are close to the hearts of some of our members and sponsors.

The total raised could not have been without the support of the Ipswich City Council, Mayor Paul Pisasale, and councillors David Morrison and Bruce Casos (who both attended the night) as well as councillors Heather Morrow, Andrew Antoniolli, Charlie Pisasale.

A massive thank you to Swich On for their fantastic donation to the cause.

The raffle was a huge hit with nearly 70 prizes being donated by the players and many local businesses.

The silent auction was likewise a phenomenal success. However, it was the Ipswich Force player's uniforms, auctioned off by official auctioneer Peter Hayes that fetched an outstanding amount to contribute to the total funds raised for the foundations.

Grant Lowe and Pat Ralph were fantastic as the MCs for the night and we thank Grant for volunteering his time and effort.

Allula Productions kept the entertainment flowing between games and during timeouts with upbeat dance routines.

An exhibition game featuring some of our under-10 talent was also a big hit.

Thanks must also go to all the volunteers who helped organise the Game for Charity as well as those who volunteered on the night.

Finally a big thank you to everyone who attended the Charity Match.

It was a successful night in terms of fundraising and we are extremely appreciative of the basketball and wider community for really getting behind us and raising a remarkable amount of money for MS Australia and Camp Quality.

We hope to have the same support for future charity events.
