Barossa Basketball endorses the following code of behaviour for players participating in its basketball programs and requires all players participating in those programs to abide by this code.

The code is intended to assist everyone to obtain the maximum benefit and enjoyment from their involvement in basketball:

Player Code of Behaviour

Play by the Rules

Never argue with an official, or show dissent to any decision they make.  If you disagree, have your captain, coach or manager approach the official during a break or after the competition.

Control your temper.

Verbal abuse of officials or other players, violence, dangerous play, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent is not acceptable or permitted in any sport.

Work equally hard for yourself and / or your team.

Your team's performance will benefit, so will you.

Be a good sport.  Applaud all good plays whether they be by your team or the opposition.

Treat all players as you would like to be treated.

Do not interfere with, be violent to, bully or take unfair advantage of another player.

Co-operate with your coach, team-mates, opponents and officials.  Without them there would be no competition.

Play for the fun of it, and not just to please parents and coaches.

Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
