Beijing Olympics MVP
Beijing Olympics MVP
Which players will be the MVP in men and women at the Olympics?
I'm going with;
Women - Lauren Jackson (Australia)
Men - LeBron James (USA)
Thoughts?

RE: RE: Beijing Olympics MVP
Who thinks the Olympic's hand out MVP Awards?
RE: Beijing Olympics MVP
Dirk Nowitzki or Diamantidis.
Dirk play alone with oponents and Diamantidis is the best guard in every section including defence.

You hear a lot of talk that Diamantidis from Greece is the best PG in the world. How do people think he measures up against some of the best in the NBA, and what would it take to get him to play a few seasons in the best league in the world?
RE: ... RE: Beijing Olympics MVP
he plays Euroleague doesn't he Azza?
RE: ... RE: Beijing Olympics MVP
Just ask AC about any of the Greek players.
This guy is a gun, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimitris_Diamantidis
He plays like a shorter version of tayshaun prince, but at PG, if that makes any sense. He's a long-reaching lefty with a really well rounded game, great defender.

good bloke actually, shares Hammer's birthday

Diamantidis (his name means diamond in Greek) is one of the top guards in the world as an all around player. He can do everything very well but he is an exceptional defender. He is also v. big for his position with unnaturally long arms for his body. He has the ability to block big centers and he does it often. I believe he has the title of Best Euroleague Defender for the last three years running.
RE: ... RE: Beijing Olympics MVP
MVP is normally somebody from a team that has reach the final I believe. However, this year the great German may get it honourably! Crying in Athens when they qualified may help a bit!!!
RE: ... RE: Beijing Olympics MVP
No MVP in the Olympics...but if there was:
Women: LJ (Australia)
Men: AK47 (Russia)
Women: LJ (Australia)
Men: AK47 (Russia)

The Greek Diamond - great skills on both sides on his body. There is great footage of him chasing a guy down on the break and blocking with his right hand. He was Greek athlete of the year (must have been after kouta retired?!)

But mostly for the Olympics - he is a 6'5" PG, which with zone defences, etc makes the greek team a lot tougher to penetrate.
The Greeks will be a tough team and you'll get beat up if you beat them!
I can't wait for the men's tournament - hopefully, some euro teams can wipe the smiles off the US team's faces!
but, if there was an MVP in an Olympic tournament, I'd choose Dirk this time around - he just seems to be such a standout on his team, a scorer who will ave 22/8 in the tournament at least

RE: RE: Beijing Olympics MVP
Even if there is no MVP in the Olympics, Yao Ming will get it!!
For the girls, LJ, but I personally think Kristy Harrower is playing out of her skin.

I'm changing my tip to Manu Ginobli. He's the best player of the men's tournament so far no question in my view.
