Under 14 Club Championships - Final Placings

Western Australia had three boys and four girls' representatives in the Under 14 Australian Club Championships held over the last two weekends. Our teams performed strongly at the tournaments and final positions were as follows.

The boys' tournament was held in Dandenong, Victoria and the WA representatives were Rockingham Flames, Stirling Senators and Wanneroo Wolves.

The Wanneroo Wolves were the highest placed of the WA teams at the boys' tournament, finishing in 16 place. Despite 20 points from Kale Somers they couldn't defeat North Tasmania in their 15/16 play-off, going down 57-51. The Wolves were 2 wins and 6 losses for the week.

The Rockingham Flames were the next highest placed team, finishing in 20 place. They went down to Runaway Bay (Queensland) 43-49 in the playoff for 19 and 20 places. Christopher Tudor was the best performer with 13 points. The Flames were also 2 wins and 6 losses for the week.

Stirling Senators finished in 22 place after going down 53-45 in their playoff for 21/22 spots. Zach Levey was strong in the play-off game with 18 points; however the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles (NSW) were too strong. The Senators finished the week with 1 win and 7 losses.

The girls' tournament was held at our very own Perry Lakes Stadium, as the host state WA had four representatives, the Cockburn Cougars, Lakeside Lightning Perry Lakes Hawks and Wanneroo Wolves.

The Lakeside Lightning finished the best of the four team, winning their play-off for 9/10 places against Illawarra (NSW) 40-46. They were led by Alicia Nelson with 17 points, including some big three point baskets. The Lightning finished the week with 4 wins and 4 losses.

Cockburn Cougars finished their week in 12 place after going down to Ipswich Force (Queensland) 57-42. Lilly Longley fought hard for the home team with 14 points, but the physical play from the Force was too much for the Cougars. The Cockburn girls also finished with 4 wins and 4 losses.

The Wanneroo Wolves lost their play-off against the Logan Thunder (Queensland) 46-55, resulting in a 14 place finish. Hannah King led the Wolves against the Thunder with 17 points. The Wolves had 3 wins and 5 losses for the tournament.

The Perry Lakes Hawks finished in 20 spot after their 43-71 loss to the Newcastle Hunters (NSW). Zoe Davidson continued her hot form with 19 points. The Hawks finished the week with 2 wins and 6 losses.

The Western Australian Basketball League and Basketball WA congratulate all of the teams who represented WA at the tournament. Your efforts have been outstanding and you represented WA in an outstanding fashion.
