Senators are champs

THE Stirling Senators under- 13s girls’ basketball team has won the WA Basketball State League championships, remaining undefeated throughout the competition.

Coach Glenn Sampson said the girls won the Cockburn Cougars Classic and the Redbacks Easter Classic earlier this year, before playing 16 rounds and three finals in the WABL competition, which comprises the best teams in the State.

“The team has qualified for the Australian Junior Championships in Hobart next year,” he said.

“The team also had four players make the State school girls team and as their coach, I could not be more proud of them.

“The key to their success is that they play for each other as a champion team, not a team of champions.”

Stirling Senators are holding open trials for all age groups at Warwick Leisure Centre on Sunday, October 25.

Cost is $5 each a session.
