Basketball WA Under 16 Skills Day Announced

Basketball WA is pleased to confirm the Under 16 Skills Day in November. This day is designed to provide athletes with a knowledge of the fundamental skills required in the Under 16 Age Group.  Part of this day is talent identification process for the Regional Academy Program and the Basketball WA State Under 16 Metropolitan Boy and Girl’s Teams.  This will lead into possible selection for the National Intensive Training Program which will be commencing early in 2010.

This Skills Day is a fantastic opportunity that should not be missed.

The Skills Day will be under the guidance of High Performance Coach, David Herbert, along with recently appointed State Head Coaches listed below:

Under 16 Metropolitan Boy’s Head Coach: Alan Black
Alan is no stranger to the Basketball scene in WA.  Alan is a former NBL Head Coach of the Perth Wildcats and the Cairns Taipan’s and was awarded the NBL Coach of the Year in 1993 and 1995.  Alan has extensive international experience and was a former Australian Boomers Assistant Coach.  It is a pleasure to have Alan back on the Junior Basketball scene within WA.

Under 16 Metropolitan Women’s Head Coach: Craig Mansfield

Craig Mansfield is also no stranger to the Basketball WA scene and is currently an Assistant Coach of the Perth Lynx in the WNBL.  Craig also has international experience having played and coached at Collegiate level in the USA.   Craig’s recent success with the Under 16 Metropolitan Girl’s State Team hold him in great stead for 2010.
