Go for 2&5 WABL Award Winners

Basketball WA held it's Annual Awards Dinner over the weekend at Burswood on Swan where the Go for 2&5 WABL Award Winners were recognised. 

Chief WABL Commissioner Van Kailis and Executive Director of Healthway David Malone were on hand to present the awards.  

Congratulations to all of the Go for 2&5 WABL Award winners listed below:

Go for 2&5 Male Player of the Year - Cory Richardson (South West)
Representing the South WestSlammers in Under 18 Division 1, 2010 has also seen Cory represent Australia at the FIBA U/17 World Championship in Germany and the Under 18 Country state team. Cory is a talented point guard with a bright future in front of him.

Go for 2&5 Female Player of the Year - Haylee DeSousa (Cockburn)
Haylee performed strongly during the 2010 WABL season which resulted in her first state team selection, representing WA in the State School Girls team. Her attitude and respect towards all involved in the game of basketball is of a high standard at all levels of the game. 

Go for 2&5 Male Coach of the Year - Trevor Pugh (Wanneroo)
Trevor was recently appointed as the WA State U/20 Men's Coach. His coaching skills helped guide the Wolves U/20 Men's team to the top of the competition. 

Go for 2&5 Female Coach of the Year - Alyce Roberts (Cockburn)
Alyce has dedicated herself to the growth and development of the Cockburn Cougars. Her resume includes guiding the U/13 girls program to the national Club Championships. She has also undertaken individuals with some of the States up and coming junior players.  

Go for 2&5 Referee of the Year - Lennon Smartt
Lennon is one of the emerging referees in the WABL competition. His skills have helped promote him to the SBL panel of referees. He is highly regarded with the Lakeside program and is often allocated to some of the tougher WABL matches. Lennon is also in the State Referees Development Program.

The Go for 2&5 WABL Awards are voted on by the WABL Commission based on nominations from the WABL clubs. The WABL Commission encourages all associations to nominate people within their association who they feel are worthy for these awards in 2011.
