Women's World Championships Live on Fox Sports

As the Jayco Australian Opals move into the final stage of preparations for their World Title defence this week, with the 2010 FIBA World Championship set to tip-off tomorrow night, September 23, all the action can be seen LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on FOX SPORTS.

One of only four teams to have ever taken out the Championship, the Australians will do battle with 16 of the world’s best basketball nations at the 16th FIBA World Championship of Basketbal in the Czech Republic.

The quadrennial event brings together the best players from around the world for 11 days of fierce competition. Australia enters the tournament ranked third in the world, and after taking out the last World Championship and finishing with a silver medal in Beijing, the Opals will be keen to see their name at the top of the sport once again.

Lauren Jackson has rejoined the team this week after a phenomenal run in the 2010 WNBA season, seeing her claim the League MVP award, as well as a WNBA championship with her Seattle Storm, and a finals MVP award to go along with it.

Phoenix Mercury star Penny Taylor is also fit and ready to go, along with Tully Bevilaqua (Indiana Fever, WNBA) and rising stars Liz Cambage (Bulleen Boomers, WNBL) and Jenna O’Hea (Bulleen Boomers, WNBL). The team also boasts a star-studded line-up of European-based players.

The Opals are placed in Group A along with Canada, China and Belarus.

FOX SPORTS coverage of the 2010 FIBA Women's World Championship is available to FOXTEL and AUSTAR subscribers.

Basketball fans can stay up-to-date with all the latest news and results throughout the tournament on foxsports.com.au and on the FOX SPORTS News Channel (Ch 513).
